Recovery Resources for Transportation and Mobility

People with disabilities often rely on public transportation systems or social support systems for their daily transportation needs, such as:

  • Community organizations,
  • Churches,
  • Friends, or
  • Family members.

Disasters may cause interruptions in both public transportation and social support systems. For individuals with disabilities, lack of accessible transportation after a disaster may be a barrier to recovery.

The Long-Term Disaster Recovery Toolkit for Individuals with Disabilities is funded through grants awarded by the American Red Cross to Dr. Laura M. Stough at Texas A&M University and Dr. Amy N. Sharp at the University of Texas at Austin and is maintained by the Center on Disability and Development at Texas A&M University.
